Abstract
This dataset is intended to analyze mate choice among storks reintroduced to Japan. It includes data on the distance between birthplace or release site, age difference, and relatedness for all breeding-age males and females and actual breeding pairs, as well as analytical codes to determine the probability of age difference and relatedness after taking into account the encounter probability.

Description of the data and file structure
This dataset is for analyzing stork mate choice. It includes data on the distance between actual breeding pairs and non-breeding individuals' birthplaces or release sites, age differences, and relatedness, along with analysis codes.
Age difference (year) indicates male age minus female age, Distance (km) indicates the straight-line distances between the birthplaces or release sites, and Relatedness was determined by the pedigree records. These variables were calculated in the same way across different files. Age.boot, Distance.boot, and Relatedness.boot contain data for all possible male–female pair combinations each year (all reintroduced individuals over 2 years that were not in captivity due to injury or other reasons), excluding pairs that had bred in any previous year.
