Abstract
The data set forms the basis for the evaluation of the causes of endangerment of plants of particular conservation concern in Berlin, Germany. The data set is the basis for the manuscript 'Relative impact of native and non-native plants on endangered species in a major European city', published in Journal of Applied Ecology. The causes of threat were recorded and assessed by experts during field surveys. Because populations can be subject to various threats, several threats can be assigned to a single population. The population is clearly identified by the population ID. Because the original data set was collected as part of the Berlin Flora Protection Programme, the data fields ‘Threat’ and ‘Threat_annotation’ are in German.

Description:
The causes of threat for all mapped populations of target species of the Berlin Flora protection scheme were recorded and assessed by experts during field surveys for an individual population. Because populations can be subject to various threats, several threats can be assigned to a single population. The population is clearly identified by the population ID. The datafield 'Threat' lists a threat category that was assigned to a threatened plant population by experts during field surveys.
Variables
- Population_ID
indicates a unique population of a threatened plant species - Species_ID
a unique ID for plant species according to the German database on plant species 'FloraWeb' - https://www.floraweb.de/ - Genus
indicates the genus of the threatened plant species - Species
indicates the species suffix of the threatened plant species - Sensu
taxonomic information on minor taxa and species groups - Author
indicates the first author of a scientific plant name - Threat_ID
an ID for each threat category - Threat:
a threat category that was assigned to a threatened plant population by experts during field surveys - Biotop_ID
an ID for a biotope category of the Berlin classification scheme for biotopes - Biotope
the main biotope category of the Berlin classification scheme of the respective Biotope_ID - Missing values
Missing values are indicated by blank cells
