Abstract
This dataset contains standardized records of stranded Procellariiformes used to investigate mass mortality events along the Brazilian coastline. The records were collected through the Brazilian Beach Monitoring Program between 2017 and 2024. Each record corresponds to a single stranded individual and includes sampling date, year and month, geographic region, Brazilian state and city, latitude and longitude, taxonomic identification (family and species), sex (when available), life stage (when available), animal condition (live or dead), and carcass decomposition stage. The dataset provides the raw observations used in the associated manuscript. It may be reused for studies of seabird strandings, mortality patterns, species distributions and spatial and temporal analyses. Taxonomic names and geographic information were standardized prior to analysis, while missing values are indicated as "NA" where information was unavailable. The taxonomy used follows the definitions provided by the PMP implementing institutions with the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS) as reference.

Description of the data and file structure
Description
This dataset contains the Procellariiformes stranding records used in the analyses presented in the associated manuscript. Some information is not available (NA) due to methodological inconsistencies that prevented reliable classification. The geographic coordinates included in this dataset represent the locations where stranded seabirds were recovered during beach monitoring surveys. These coordinates do not correspond to breeding colonies, nesting sites, roosting areas, or other sensitive habitats, nor do they represent the natural distribution of the species. They indicate only the locations where carcasses were found on beaches.

Data were derived from the following sources:
- Brazilian Beach Monitoring Programs (PMPs) Sistema de Informação de Monitoramento da Biota Aquática (SIMBA), administered within the Brazilian federal environmental licensing program coordinated by IBAMA. The dataset deposited in Dryad consists of a curated analytical subset of the publicly available SIMBA database, including only Procellariiformes stranding records collected between 2017 and 2024.
