Abstract

There are 20 files uploaded. Eight files correspondingly contain four datasets of Sargassum plagiophyllum populations (mtDNA cox1, mtDNA cox3, mtDNA cox1+cox3, nrDNA ITS2) and the identified mtDNA haplotypes or nrDNA ribotypes for each dataset. The other four files contain four datasets of Sargassum polycystum populations (mtDNA cox1, mtDNA cox3, mtDNA cox1+cox3, nrDNA ITS2) and the identified mtDNA haplotypes or nrDNA ribotypes for each dataset. The remaining three files contain the combined haplotype/ribotype datasets of S. plagiophyllum and S. polycystum, together with the haplotypes/ribotypes dataset of S. polycystum from Hainan-Guangxi, China. There is an Excel file that describes how the sampling localities of several S. plagiophyllum populations correspond to their abbreviations used for molecular analysis in the manuscript.
