Abstract
These data are associated with the article "Fine-Scale Factors Affecting the Abundance and Thermal Sensitivity of Nonnative Brook Trout in Coldwater Rocky Mountain Streams" in the journal Fisheries Management and Ecology (in press). The file "Voss_et_al_FME_BKT_abund_data.csv" contains the fish and habitat data analyzed in the article. Column headers are defined in the README in the Dryad repository, and detailed methodologies are described in the published article. Please direct any questions to Nicholas Voss (nvoss@uidaho.edu).

Description of the data and file structure
These data are associated with the article "Fine-Scale Factors Affecting the Abundance and Thermal Sensitivity of Nonnative Brook Trout in Coldwater Rocky Mountain Streams" in the journal Fisheries Management and Ecology (in press). The file "Voss_et_al_FME_BKT_abund_data.csv" contains all fish and habitat survey data analyzed in the article except for a variable describing migratory Bull Trout occurrence, which could not be released due to a pre-existing data sharing agreement for species listed under the Endangered Species Act. The fish and habitat survey data in this dataset are paired, such that the area electrofished to estimate fish abundance (i.e., the site) is identical to the area covered by in-stream habitat surveys that occurred immediately thereafter. Column headers are defined in the README in the Dryad repository, and highly detailed, step-by-step methodologies are available in the published article. Please direct any questions to Nicholas Voss (nvoss@uidaho.edu).
Files and variables

Variables
- Site_ID: A unique identifier for each site.
- huc8_name: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-assigned names for eight-digit hydrologic unit code sub-basins from the National Hydrography Dataset.
- huc10_name: EPA-assigned names for ten-digit hydrologic unit code watersheds from the National Hydrography Dataset.
- huc12_name: EPA-assigned names for twelve-digit hydrologic unit code sub-watersheds from the National Hydrography Dataset.
- stream: EPA-assigned stream names that were later formatted by the first author to exclude duplicate names across watersheds.
- BKT_ab_EST: Estimated site-level Brook Trout abundance. Estimates were made by applying the Carle-Strub abundance estimator to backpack electrofishing survey data.
- tot_site_area_m2: Total wetted area within the site (square meters) calculated from thalweg length and wetted width measurements taken in the field.
- norwest_MeanAugTemp_hist_c: Estimated historic mean August water temperature (C; obtained from the NORWEST stream temperature model).
- weighted_mean_ww_m: Weighted mean wetted width in meters calculated from measurements taken in the field.
- MaxDepth_m: Maximum pool depth in meters (measured in the field).
- vic_nWintFloods_hist: Estimated frequency of winter flood events (days) that exceed the 95th percentile of annual mean daily streamflow estimates (obtained from the Western U.S. Flow Metrics dataset).
- slope_1km_pct: Estimated stream gradient (%; 1-km resolution) calculated using NHDPlus V2 stream flowlines and a 1/3rd arc-second (approximately 10 meter) resolution digital elevation model for Idaho.
- run_pct: Percent of the main channel composed of run channel units based on habitat delineations made in the field.
- sc_pct: Percent of the site composed of side channels based on habitat delineations made in the field.
- weighted_mean_sbstr64_pct: Weighted mean percent of main channel stream substrate composed of particles greater than or equal to 64 mm. This value was based on 90 particle measurements made in the field using a modified Wentworth scale.
- UC_pct: Percent of streambanks undercut by a horizontal distance of at least 0.1 m based on field measurements made using a stadia rod.
- LWD_per_100m2: Field-counted number of pieces of wetted large woody debris (each at least 1m x 0.1m) per 100 square meters of wetted area.
- weighted_mean_ohv_pct: Weighted mean percent overhanging vegetation (<1.5 m above the water surface) measured in the field using a convex solar densiometer.
- weighted_mean_cc_pct: Weighted mean percent canopy cover (>1.5 m above the water surface) measured in the field using a convex solar densiometer.
- RBTRCHY_per_100m: Estimated number of Rainbow Trout and(or) Rainbow Trout x Cutthroat Trout hybrids per 100 m. Abundance estimates were made by applying the Carle-Strub abundance estimator to backpack electrofishing survey data.
