Abstract
This dataset includes one CSV with spike times and one CSV with the stimulus parameters associated with each stimulus presentation for each electrophysiology recording. Electrophysiology was recorded in ferret auditory cortex under general anaesthesia. The stimuli comprise 13 different pitch-evoking sounds presented at 17 different F0s.

Description of the data and file structure
Electrophysiology was recorded using Neuropixels probes in ferrets under general anaesthesia. Stimuli were presented via in-ear headphones and comprise 13 different pitch-evoking sounds at 17 different fundamental frequencies. Raw electrophysiology data were pre-processed and manually curated to find well-isolated single neurons using Phy.
Files and variables
File: [Ferret]_[Penetration]_stimuli.csv
Description:
Variables
- F0: All fundamental frequencies presented. Indices correspond to the stimulus number referenced in column 4 of single_units_.csv of the same ferret and penetration. For example the first value of F0 (F0[1]) gives the fundamental frequency of stimulus 1.
- SoundType: All sound types presented. Indices correspond to the stimulus number referenced in column 4 of single_units_.csv of the same ferret and penetration. For example the first value of SoundType (SoundType[1]) gives the sound type of stimulus 1.
File: [Ferret]_[Penetration]_single_units.csv
Description:
Variables
- SpikeTime: The absolute time of the spike relative to the start of the recording.
- SpikeTimeRelativeToOnset: The spike time relative to the onset of the sound.
- Unit: The neuron spiking.
- Stimulus: The stimulus presented on this trial. It corresponds to the F0 and SoundType variables stored in the stimuli.csv with the same ferret and penetration in the name.
- Repeat: The repeat number of this particular stimulus.
- TrialNo: The trial number of the spike (i.e. the absolute number of presentations, irrespective of stimulus type).
