Abstract

This dataset accompanies a study testing whether transgenerational plasticity (TGP) reflects adaptive anticipatory responses or condition‐dependent carryover effects in Trinidadian killifish (Anablepsoides hartii). Fish originating from high-predation (HP) and predator-free (killifish-only; KO) populations were subjected to a fully factorial manipulation of maternal (F2) and offspring (F3) food environments. We quantified egg developmental rate, offspring body mass, and body condition to assess cross-generational responses and population differences in TGP mechanisms. Results showed strong effects of maternal food environment on egg developmental rate, with higher maternal resources producing faster development, particularly in HP populations, and little evidence for anticipatory transgenerational effects.

The repository includes (i) the raw experimental dataset in CSV format, (ii) pedigree information used for animal model analyses, and (iii) fully annotated R scripts required to reproduce all data processing, statistical analyses, and figures presented in the manuscript. Together, these files provide a complete and reproducible workflow from raw data to final results, enabling reanalysis and reuse for comparative and meta-analytic studies of transgenerational plasticity and maternal effects.
