Abstract
These are data soil and vegetation samples collected from a recovering deciduous forest in Milledgeville, Georgia, USA. Soil sampling was conducted from October to November 2023, and vegetation was sampled from August to November 2024. Soil samples were collected from three vegetation blocks: namely, heavy privet invasion, no privet invasion, and a managed pine stand. Twenty samples were collected from each block and separated into three depths (0-5 cm, 5-10 cm, 10-15 cm). Soils were analyzed for the soil organic carbon content using the loss-on-ignition method, texture, and chemical properties, including pH and most macronutrients. Vegetation sampling was done using the point-centered quarter method along 10 transects, with sampling points placed at 10 m intervals along the transects.

- Tree DBH (cm): diameter (in cm) of the tree at 1.37 meters. Values separated by commas indicate trees with two or more stems
- Tree Dist. (m): distance to the tree in meters from the sampling point along the transect
- Sapling ID: identification of a sapling (diameter less than 5 cm) by its common name
- Sapling DBH (cm): diameter (in cm) of sapling at 1.37 meters
- Sapling Dist. (m): distance to the sapling in meters from the sampling point along the transect
- Dead DBH (cm): diameter (in cm) of a dead tree in a quadrant

- Correction: the correction factor determined by combining the blank density value and temperature
- Temp (40s): temperature (°F) of the sample at 40 seconds
