Abstract
An associated paper revealed substantial heterogeneity within the H-fibroin silk gene. The data presented here is in support of the paper. The dataset includes haplotype resolved whole genome assemblies in FASTA files from two populations of the caddisfly species Arctopsyche grandis, collected in Utah, USA (coordinates are provided in the README). The assemblies were used to extract the H-fibroin alleles. It also includes H-fibroin protein alignments in FASTA format, which can be used to evaluate the extent of population diversity in this essential silk protein. Lastly, we provide the scripts that we used in the analyses presented in the paper for reproducibility, including for many of the figures.

Description of the data and file structure
This repository contains supplemental data for the manuscript "On the dynamic caddisfly silk H-fibroin gene: A population study in a net-spinning species." The repository contains whole genome assemblies from two populations of Arctopsyche grandis, which were sequenced with PacBio HiFi technology. It also contains protein alignments and scripts used during the analyses of these data.
Files and variables
File: protein_alignments.tar.gz
Description: contains the protein alignments of the proteins studied in the paper, including the heavy fibroin chain silk protein.
File: scripts.tar.gz
Description: contains scripts used in protein analysis
File: assemblies.tar.gz
Description: contains the haploid assemblies for 18 individuals of Arctopsyche grandis. Those numbered 1-8 are from the first population (coordinates: 40.433333, -111.738611) and those numbered 9-18 are from the second population (coordinates: 40.083925, -111.354537).
Code/software
Scripts used for the analyses of the protein sequences are included here, including scripts to evaluate the repetitive sequence and the insertions/deletions.
