Abstract
Dataset associated with the manuscript with the same title as this repository. Data are a time series of coral sizes at 7 sites on Palmyra Atoll, 2013-2019. In each year colonies are segmented, and provided a unique colony ID. IDs are then matched through time. See README for additional details.

Description of the data and file structure
Data are sizes of Pocillopora colonies measured at 7 10-m depth fore-reef sites on Palmyra Atoll from 2013-2019. Source data is structure-from-motion derived orthomosaics, and colonies were digitized and matched using TagLab. We also include code used to summarize basic demographics, estimate growth rates using radial and areal growth models, and also to estimate size based survivorship with logistic regression. Finally, we use estimates from the best fit growth model to perform a residual correlation analysis.
Data are available in the following file, which is included in this repository: Palmyra_7site_pocillopora_sizes_2013-2019.csv
Code/software
All analyses were conducted in R version 4.1.2 for Windows.
All required data is available in this repository and necessary packages are listed in the following code document: Pocillopora_demographics_dryad.Rmd
Description of data fields
Column A, Site - name of site
Column B, GenSiteID - combined site-colony ID
Column C, GenID - unique colony ID
Columns D-J all contain similar data for each year of the study (2013-2019) - area of each colony in cm. If a colony was not present (had not yet recruited, or had died), a 0 is entered.
Columns K-P all contain fates of the starting year for each yearly interval. For example, Fate_2013 indicates the fate of the colony over the 2013 - 2014 interval. The included fates are as follows:
- If a colony survived over the interval, "Alive" is entered.
- If it died, "Died" is entered.
- If a colony recruited (i.e., settled and grew into an identifiable juvenile coral, generally larger than 1cm in diameter), "Recruit" is entered.
- If a colony did not yet exist but recruited later in the time series, "BC" is entered.
- "AD" is entered for all intervals after a given colony dies.
