Data from: Non-linear climatic response to the weakening of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation during glacial times
Data files
Abstract
The climatic response to the weakening of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) is investigated under glacial conditions representative of Heinrich Stadial 5 (at 49,000 years ago) using a fully coupled Earth System Model (ACCESS-ESM1.5). Three North Atlantic freshwater forcing experiments are conducted using the ACCESS-ESM1.5 model to evaluate the climate response to different magnitudes of AMOC weakening. This dataset includes all the model outputs used in this study.

Description of the data and file structure
This dataset includes model outputs from North Atlantic freshwater forcing experiments at 49,000 years ago (49 ka) climate conditions in the Australian Earth System Model ACCESS-ESM1.5. The data files contain monthly data for different variables to recreate the figures in the paper.
The data files are in netCDF format. Each file contains the 50-year analysis period of the three freshwater forcing experiments in the paper, with 0.4 Sv, 0.3 Sv and 0.2 Sv freshwater input per model year in the North Atlantic under 49 ka glacial conditions, indicated by the 49ka_shutdown, 49ka_0.3Sv and 49ka_0.2Sv simulations, respectively.
