Abstract
This dataset contains microsatellite (SSR) genotype data for 255 Korthalsia laciniosa individuals sampled across the Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago. The data were generated for a phylogeographic study aimed at assessing genetic structure, historical demography, and the influence of past climatic events on population differentiation in this climbing palm species. The dataset includes unique multilocus genotypes and corresponding sampling locality (GPS) information. All individuals were genotyped at 17 microsatellite loci, yielding a total of 158 alleles across the dataset.

Description of the data and file structure
This dataset contains microsatellite (SSR) genotype data for 255 Korthalsia laciniosa individuals sampled across the Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago. The data were generated for a phylogeographic study examining genetic structure, historical demography, and the influence of past climatic events on population differentiation in this climbing palm species. The dataset includes unique multilocus genotypes and corresponding GPS sampling locations for all individuals. All samples were genotyped at 17 microsatellite loci, yielding a total of 158 alleles.
Files and variables
File: K_laciniosa_sampled_locations.csv
Description: Sampled location (name and GPS) used for Niche modelling
Variables:
- Location: sampling location
- lon: longitude in decimal degrees
- lat: latitude in decimal degrees
File: Raw_data_K_laciniosa_A_N_archipelago.txt
Sample ID Structure:
- Each sample ID encodes the sampling locality and region: Population name (e.g., Bakultala),
- Region code: MA – Middle Andaman NA – North Andaman SA – South Andaman Nico – Nicobar
- Unique sample number/identifier (e.g., Dkl__)
- Example format: Bakultala_MA_Dkl01
Data format: The dataset is provided in GENEPOP format. The file contains multilocus diploid microsatellite (SSR) genotypes organized by population. The SSR locus ID are provided in the header (starting with Kle), and populations are separated by the keyword Pop. Following each sample ID, the genotypes for each SSR locus are given in the same order as the loci listed in the header. Each genotype is represented by a six-digit number corresponding to the two allele sizes; for example, 188194 represents alleles 188 and 194. Missing genotypes are represented by 000000
