Abstract
This dataset contains the data and R script from a plant-soil feedback experiment on Asteraceae species differing in residence time in Germany. The dataset includes measurements of plant performance, species-level information on invasion status, minimum residence time, and functional traits, as well as the R script used for data processing and analysis. These resources enable the reproduction of the associated analyses and provide opportunities for reuse in comparative studies, meta-analyses, and research on plant-soil feedback, plant invasion, and plant functional traits. No legal or ethical restrictions apply to the reuse of these data.

Code/software
All data were analysed in R version 4.4.1 (R Core Team 2024). The accompanying R script contains the code for data processing, calculation of plant-soil feedback indices, and all statistical analyses performed in this study.
The plant-soil feedback experiment was conducted with 30 Asteraceae species differing in residence time in Germany and three native phytometer species. All species were used to condition soil, after which they were grown in conspecific conditioned, heterospecific conditioned, and control soils to quantify plant-soil feedback responses. Plant performance was assessed through measurements of aboveground biomass, belowground biomass, total biomass, number of seeds, and seedling establishment. Additional species-level information, including invasion status, residence time, and ten measured functional traits, is provided. The accompanying R script includes data processing, calculation of plant-soil feedback indices, and statistical analyses.
