Abstract
This data is about several traits measured on branches of 3 wide-niche breadth tree species--Embothrium coccineum (Proteaceae, Nothofagus antarctica (Nothofagaceae) and N. pumilio--growing across environmental gradients in southern Chile. The traits involve leaf, wood anatomy, including wood density, growth, carbon reserves and wood isotopes.
Methods
Branches were collected in the field and processed in the laboratory where branch sections were extracted to determine several traits. One portion was used for wood density, another portion was grinded for chemical analysis (non-structural carbohydrates and isotopes), another portion was used to make cuts for wood anatomy examination.
