Abstract
Sexual traits may be selected during multiple consecutive episodes of selection, occurring before, during, or after copulation. In the research article entitled "Contrasting the form and strength of pre- and postcopulatory sexual selection in a flatworm", published in Evolution, we measured pre- and postcopulatory phenotypic traits alongside variation in fitness components at different episodes. Namely, we assessed the mating success, sperm-transfer efficiency, and sperm fertilising efficiency of focal worms in which we measured 13 morphological traits, and performed multivariate selection analyses assessing the form and strength of selection. We archived the datasets and R scripts necessary to reproduce all analyses performed in this paper.

Description of the data and file structure
There are overall five files: two .csv files containing the data, and three annotated .R files handling the data files and performing all analyses described in the paper.
- MultSel_TraitData.csv stores the values of the 13 morphological traits of the 160 focal worms. ba (body area; x 10³ µm²), tt (testis size; x 10³ µm²), oo (ovary size; x 10³ µm²), Dsv (delta seminal vesicle; x 10³ µm²), CS (stylet centroid size), RWS1, 2, and 3 (first, second, and third relative warp score of the stylet), feeler (sperm's feeler length; µm), body (sperm's body length; µm), shaft (sperm's shaft length; µm), brush (sperm's brush length; µm), bristles (sperm's bristles length; µm). EXCL - var et EXCL - traits indicates the replicates that should be excluded for the variance-based approach and trait-based approach, respectively. Exclusions and missing trait values are explained in the paper.
- MultSel_FitnessData.csv stores the successes of the 160 focal worms at different fitness components. F (fecundity of the 12 partner worms), mRS (male reproductive success of the focal worm), penetrance (focal worm' penetrance of the GFP marker), tot cop (total number of copulations), foc cop (total number of copulations in which the focal worm was involved), partner sperm (total number of sperm counted in the 12 partner worms), focal sperm (total number of sperm of the focal worm counted in the 12 partner worms), corrected mRS (male reporductive success of the focal worm, corrected by its penetrance), MS (mating success), PS (paternity share), PMS (post mating success), STS (sperm-transfer success), STE (sperm-transfer efficiency), SFE (sperm fertilising efficiency). EXCL - var et EXCL - traits indicates the replicates that should be excluded for the variance-based approach and trait-based approach, respectively. Exclusions and missing fitness values are explained in the paper.
- MultSel_Script1_LinearNonlineaSel.R assesses the form and strength of selection on the worms' morphological traits in reproductive success and in all four fitness components.
- MultSel_Script2_FitSurfComp.R compares the form and strength of selection across all four fitness components.
- MultSel_Script3_PairwiseFitSurfComp.R compares the form and strength of selection across all four fitness components between pairs of fitness components.
