Abstract

This dataset contains raw data described in the paper: "Rahimi O., Ohana-Levi N., Brauner H., Inbar N., Hübner S. and Drori E. (2021) "Demographic and ecogeographic factors limit wild grapevine spread at the southern edge of its distribution range",  accepted for publication in "Ecology and Evolution".

The spatial distribution of plants is constrained by demographic and eco-geographic factors that determine the range and abundance of the species. In this study, we performed genetic and morphological analyzes based on SSR and OIV datasets. In addition, according to the spatial distribution model performed by Maxent software we found that distance to water sources, Normalized difference vegetation index, and precipitation are the main environmental factors constraining V.v. sylvestris distribution at its southern distribution range. All raw data used for this study can be found in this deposit which contains a table with grapevine locations, Maxent input files, morphological and microsatellite data.

Methods

Described in Materials and methods section in paper by Rahimi O., Ohana-Levi N., Brauner H., Inbar N., Hübner S. and Drori E. (2021) "Demographic and ecogeographic factors limit wild grapevine spread at the southern edge of its distribution range"

Usage notes

This dataset contains a readme, an Excel file and a folder named "South Levant Maxent input files", containing Maxent files. The file "A table of South Levant wild grapevine sampling locations in the wilds, morphological and microsatellite data" includes 3 tables: (1) wild grapevine sampling locations, which were used for the Maxent and Multivariate spatial clustering analyses, (2) the morphological data among 68 sampled accessions that were characterized by 20 OIV descriptors and (3) microsatellite data for 129 accessions based on 20 SSR mark (two alleles for each SSR).

The folder "South Levant Maxent input files" contains 10 data layers (scaled grids to a spatial resolution of 30 m) which were used for the niche modeling analysis by Maxent software and seven of them were used for the Multivariate spatial clustering analysis (The readme file contains an explanation of each of the variables in this dataset.)
